Our Services

  • A standard tuning appointment is for pianos that have been serviced by us within the last two years. The process involves tightening and loosening the tension of the strings in a piano, so that they sing together in harmony. The main reason pianos go out of tune is due to fluctuations in humidity. Most piano manufacturers recommend at least four tunings in the first year and two tunings per year thereafter for a typical home piano.

For venues and artists with more sensitive ears, tuning four times a year or more is not uncommon. Concert halls and recording studios usually tune every performance.

Please refer to our FAQ page for more in depth information about tuning and your piano.

  • A full service appointment is for pianos that have not been serviced in two years or more. Pianos that fit this description often need a pitch raise and a little extra love to get them sounding their best. A cleaning, inspection, and any small repairs that can be done within this timeframe are included.

Any other repairs may be extra, depending on the time and parts required, and we will get confirmation from you before anything is done.

  • Improve the tone of the piano by filing the felt of the hammers to remove the grooves from the strings and restore their original shape.

  • Using chemical hardeners or softeners along with voicing needles, we can change the tone of your hammers to make them brighter or more mellow.

  • Consistent humidity is what keeps a piano healthy and allows pianos to maintain stable tunings for longer periods of time. Even the best HVAC systems often fail to keep pianos within their ideal range of 37%-43%. Especially in Chicago, we see drastic changes in humidity from season to season. Over time, cracks can begin to form in the soundboard, pinblock, action parts, etc., all of which are piano killers. A Piano Life Saver System keeps humidity consistent by constantly measuring the humidity and automatically turning on the appropriate system when necessary. Your purchase comes with a 5 year warranty when installed by a professional technician.

  • The average piano can weigh anywhere from 200-1000 lbs. Concert grands can weigh up to 1,200 lbs. Installing a dolly makes moving a breeze.

  • Pianos have over 12,000 individual parts. Whatever the repair may be, we will do our best to diagnose the problem and fix it. We charge an hourly rate and extra for any parts that might need replacing.
